Q: What is the initial franchise fee and what are the terms?
A: The initial franchise fee is determined based on population estimates and ranges from $35,000 to $55,000. The initial term of the franchise agreement is twenty (20) years, which may be renewed for additional ten (10) year terms. The renewal would be subject to the franchise terms and conditions in place at the time of the renewal.
Q: What is the royalty fee and how will it be computed?
A: The royalty fee is 8% of the base rate monthly rental revenues, net of applicable sales, rental, or use of tax. The royalty fee is computed monthly and is due and payable by the 15th day of the following month.
Q: Are the containers purchased or leased?
A: Storage containers are purchased directly from Mobile Attic Franchising Company, Inc. Please call 1-866-874-8474 for container pricing information.
Q: How many containers are needed to get started?
A: A minimum initial order of thirty (30) 8' x 16' mobile storage attics is required prior to the onset of the franchise business. Additional orders are made in a minimum size order of fifteen (15) units. Each order must be for units identical size.
Q: What type of delivery equipment is needed to operate the business and deliver/pick-up containers?
A: A standard rollback delivery truck should be sufficient. At minimum, one truck is required to begin; however, additional trucks can be added as necessary. You may, but are not required to, purchase a fork lift for your exclusive use.
Q: What size facility or location is needed to operate business?
A: Between 1 and 4 acres (40,000 sq. ft. - 175,000 sq. ft.) is recommended; however the space required to operate a franchise will vary depending on territorial needs. It will not be necessary to have a warehouse to store the units.
Q: What type of computer software is needed?
A: Acceptable self-storage management software is needed to operate the business and track the activity and utilization of the portable storage attics. We have chosen a software package that meets our specifications and is well-suited to the portable storage leasing business. Information regarding the product we are referring to is available when setting up your franchise.
Q: What type of financing options does Mobile Attic offer? Is direct financing through Mobile Attic available?
A: Mobile Attic works with several financial institutions familiar with our product and business model which are currently offering financing options to franchisees.
Q: What type of training is available?
A: Upon qualification of a franchise location, Mobile Attic conducts training seminars free of charge at our Elba, Alabama corporate headquarters. The training will involve the day-to-day operations of running the business, as well as, hands on training in the loading and unloading of the storage containers. Travel, lodging, and meals are the responsibility of the trainees.
Q: How are the units shipped and who is responsible for the freight?
A: All units will be shipped fully assembled from our Elba, Alabama manufacturing facility. The freight is the responsibility of the franchisee.
Q: Is there territorial protection?
A: Absolutely. Upon qualification, each Mobile Attic franchise will be assigned an exclusive territory. Mobile Attic will not establish another franchise or company owned store using the Mobile Attic trademark within that territory. The specific size of the territory is negotiable based upon several factors, including, but not limited to: population density, the metropolitan business base in the territory, and other comparable factors.
Q: What are the expected earnings?
A: Mobile Attic does not furnish any information or representations concerning, or related to, the potential earnings and/or success of a franchised business location. Actual results of franchised business will vary greatly from location to location and cannot be estimated with any degree of accuracy. The information presented within the "Uniform Franchise Offering Circular" (UFOC) should prove helpful in making a determination as to whether or not a Mobile Attic franchise is a viable investment.
